The Glass Prism was an American psychedelic rock band based in Pennsylvania, originally formed in the early 1960s as The El Caminoes. The initial lineup included George Fox on piano and vocals, Steve Bond on drums, Jim Shrader on saxophone and bass, and an unnamed lead guitarist and guitarist/organist. After high school, Fox and Shrader left the group, and Bond tragically died in a car crash in 1966, leading to an unnamed replacement. The lineup was completed with the addition of a bassist and singer. In 1969, the band signed a two-record deal with RCA, who requested a new name for the band. Christiano proposed the idea of recording a concept album based on lyrics by Edgar Allan Poe, and the band adopted the name Glass Prism from their debut album title. Although the album performed moderately well, they did not achieve significant success afterward. A national tour as the opening act for an unnamed artist was canceled, and their second album received little promotion and failed to chart. In 1970, Carl Siracuse left the group to join an unnamed band, and the remaining members renamed themselves Shenandoah, recording one unreleased album. Louie Cossa replaced Augie Christiano in 1971, but the group ceased performing altogether in 1976.
