The Golden Dawn was an American psychedelic rock band formed in Austin, Texas, in 1966. Initially named the Power Plant and later known as The Earth People, the band released one album before disbanding shortly after its release in 1968. Their album, which was recorded earlier than the album "Easter Everywhere," faced delays from International Artists, resulting in its release being withheld until after the latter's debut. Consequently, the Power Plant's album received criticism and was labeled as a copycat record. In 2017, George Kinney released what he referred to as the "second Golden Dawn" album, titled "Rebel Heart." The band consisted of the following members: George Kinney (songwriter, guitar, and lead vocals), James Henry (lead guitar), William vonReichbauer (upright and electric bass, backing vocals), Michael Morris (drums, backing vocals), Miranda Morris (flute, percussion, and backing vocals), and Peter Gordon (piano, organ). Some members of The Golden Dawn were also part of the Lone Star Hippie Band.
