Golden Earring is a long-standing Dutch rock band that originated in 1961 under the name 'The Tornados'. They changed their name to 'The Golden Earrings' in 1963 and later shortened it to 'Golden Earring' in 1969. The band is affectionately known among fans as 'The Earring'. Their debut single, 'Please Go', was released in September 1965. On February 5, 2021, they announced to the Dutch press that their active career had come to an end due to the illness of member George Kooymans. The current lineup includes members who contribute vocals, guitar, flute, guitars, drums, percussion, bass, synth, and keyboards. The band has seen various members come and go over the years, including lead vocals, guitarists, and drummers.
