The Goo Goo Dolls are an alternative rock band from Buffalo, New York, formed by guitarist and vocalist John Rzeznik, bassist and vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska. Mike Malinin was the band's drummer from January 1995 until December 2013, and Craig Macintyre joined as an official drummer in 2024 after serving as a touring and session drummer since 2013. The band is best known for their commercially successful single "Iris," released in 1998, along with other notable hits such as "Name" from their 1995 album A Boy Named Goo, and "Broadway," "Black Balloon," and "Slide" from their 1998 album Dizzy Up The Girl. This album produced a total of five successful singles. They also had hits like "Here Is Gone," "Sympathy," and "Big Machine" from their 2002 album Gutterflower. The Goo Goo Dolls have achieved 14 top ten singles on various charts and have sold over 10 million albums worldwide. In October 2012, "Iris" was ranked #1 on Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs 1992–2012" chart, with "Slide" at #9 and "Name" at #24.
