The Green Arrows is a Zimbabwean band formed in 1968, originally as a backing group for other prominent singers. Founded by the legendary musician Zex Manatsa and his younger brother in Mhangura, they initially performed as the Mambo Jazz Band, covering various songs. After relocating to Bulawayo, they adopted the name Green Arrows and began composing and performing their own music in 1972, during which time they met a South African saxophonist who became their producer. The Green Arrows were the first group to record an LP in Zimbabwe, and one of their tracks set records by staying at the No. 1 position on the country's music charts longer than any previous record, a feat that remains unmatched to this day.
