The Gregg Allman Band, formed in 1975 by Gregg Allman, a co-founder of the Allman Brothers, embodied the essence of southern rock infused with bluesy soul, extended jams, and heartfelt vocals during a hiatus of the Allman Brothers. Active primarily until 1982 with occasional reunions, the band released notable albums such as "Playin' Up a Storm" in 1977 and "Just for the Thrill of It" in 1980 under Capricorn Records. These works showcased Allman's distinctive organ grooves and guitar-driven intensity, especially following the tragic losses of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. The band represents a significant chapter in the legacy of southern rock.
