The Groundhogs were an English blues and progressive rock band formed in late 1963. They gained prominence in the early 1970s and toured extensively throughout the 1960s, continuing to perform sporadically into the 21st century. The band's sole constant member was Tony McPhee, who played guitar and provided vocals. The Groundhogs typically recorded and performed as a power trio, though they experienced numerous personnel changes over the years. The band remained active until their retirement in 2014, after which their first drummer launched a spinoff.
