The Hippie Boys were a prolific Jamaican Rocksteady and early Reggae backing band/studio band formed in 1967. Their name varied depending on the studio where they were recording. They were known as the group for Randy's productions, the group for various other productions, and eventually became quite famous. The band initially consisted of a bassist, "Seanie" on drums, and "Welby Stewart" on guitar. Their fame grew in 1969 with the arrival of Aston "Family Man" Barrett on bass, Carlton "Carlie" Barrett on drums, Alva "Reggie" Lewis on rhythm guitar, and Lloyd Charmers on organ, piano, percussion, and vocals. They were sometimes augmented by Ronnie "Bop" Williams, who played lead guitar.
