The Human League is an electronic band from Sheffield, England, formed in 1977 by Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh, and Adi. Originally called '', the band changed its name to 'The Human League' in 1978 after Adi's departure to form another group. With the addition of vocalist Phil Oakey and the release of the single "Being Boiled," the band began to establish itself. The original line-up lasted until 1980, after which Ware and Marsh left to form a new project, while Oakey retained the band name and added female vocalists. This new incarnation of The Human League gained widespread popularity, particularly known for their synthesizer-based pop sound and the hit song “Don’t You Want Me.” In 1982, The Human League released a remix album titled Love and Dancing under the band name as a nod to Barry White's disco-era influence.
