The Human League is an electronic band from Sheffield, England, formed in 1977 by Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh, and another member. Initially called '', the band changed its name to 'The Human League' in 1978 after the departure of Adi, who went on to form another group. With the addition of vocalist Phil Oakey and the release of the single "Being Boiled," the band began to take shape. The original line-up lasted until 1980, when Ware and Marsh left to form a new project. Oakey retained the band name and brought in female vocalists, leading to the incarnation that achieved widespread popularity. The Human League is mainly known for its synthesizer-based pop sound, particularly the hit song “Don’t You Want Me.” In 1982, the band released a remix album titled Love and Dancing under a different name as a nod to Barry White's disco-era.
