The Hypnotics are an English garage and psychedelic rock band formed in 1985 in High Wycombe. They emerged from the early alternative rock scene, releasing two full-length albums and an EP between 1989 and 1990. Their trajectory was interrupted by a hiatus following a car accident in which their drummer broke his back while on tour in the US. Although they regrouped and released additional records, they never attained the mainstream success that their contemporaries, like The Black Crowes, enjoyed. The band's music drew inspiration from late-60s acts such as The Stooges, MC5, The Doors, early Led Zeppelin, and Pink Fairies, positioning them as a largely-forgotten precursor to today's stoner rock. Thee Hypnotics disbanded in 1998 but made a comeback in 2018, releasing a box set titled "Righteously Re-Charged," which includes all of their studio albums. The current lineup features Jim Jones on vocals, Ray Hanson on guitar, Phil Smith on drums (from 1990 to 1998 and again from 2018), and Jeremy Cottingham on bass (from 1997 to 1998 and again from 2018). Previous members include Mark Thompson (drums, 1985-1989), Adam Sharam (bass, 1985-1986), Chris Dennis (bass, 1986-1988), Will Pepper (bass, 1988-199
