The Impalas were a racially integrated doo-wop group that originated in Brooklyn, NY, in 1958. The lineup included Richard Wagner, Tony Carlucci, Joe "Speedo" Frazier, and Leonardo "Lenny" Renda. They gained recognition in 1959 after being discovered by disc jockey Alan Freed, who facilitated their signing to the Cub label. The Impalas achieved several chart hits before disbanding in 1961.
