The Imperials are a New York vocal harmony group that signed with a record label in 1958 and achieved significant success early on. However, by 1961, they experienced a decline in popularity, leading lead singer Anthony Gourdine to leave the group in pursuit of a solo career. Following his departure, The Imperials underwent personnel changes and recorded several singles for the Carlton label, which did not perform well on the charts. During this period, the group consisted of Clarence Collins, Ernest Wright, Jr., Sammy Strain, and George Kerr. By the end of 1963, Little Anthony returned to the group after finding limited success as a solo artist, and they soon regained their popularity. The years 1978-1979 marked another period without Little Anthony, and in 1987, the group released a single.
