The Insane was a punk rock band hailing from Wigan, England, active from 1979 to approximately 1986. The band, which sometimes spelled their name as The Inƨane, originally formed as a five-piece and experienced a tumultuous career with 14 different lineups. Following a split, there were two bands using the name 'The Insane' for a period. They recorded for both Riot City Records and No Future Records. Notably, members David 'Bambi' Ellesmere and Simon 'Psycho' Middlehurst later joined Flux Of Pink Indians.
