The Invitations, originally known as The Champlains and Tip Toppers, formed when they signed with Dyno Voice Records. The group initially featured Roy Jolly as the lead vocalist alongside members Gary Gant, Bill Morris, and Bobby Rivers from 1965 to 1966. In late 1966, they transitioned to MGM Records, where Herman Colefield took over as lead vocalist. By 1968, The Invitations moved to Diamond Records. In 1973, Lew Kirton replaced Colefield as the lead vocalist, and the group signed with Silver Blue Records. The members of The Invitations have included Lew Kirton, Gary Gant, Bill Morris, and Robert Rivers.
