The Jonzun Crew was formed by Michael and Soni Johnson in Boston, along with Steve Thorpe and Gordy Worthy. Originating from Florida, the group blended electrofunk and rock beats with comic and novelty lyrics. They achieved notable success in 1982 and 1983 with hits like "Pack Jam (Look out for the OVC)" and "We Are The Jonzun Crew." In 1986, Michael Jonzun left the group to pursue a solo career, but his impact was more significant as the discoverer of New Edition and as the writer and producer of their hit "Candy Girl."
