The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is a dark jazz group formed in 1999 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The ensemble went on hiatus in late 2013 but announced its return on January 22, 2025, through an email newsletter from Jason Köhnen. He revealed that both The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and its side project, The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, are back together after a 12-year hiatus. They are set to perform in their original lineup on August 29, 2025, at Lido in Berlin, Germany. As of January 4, 2026, the ensemble announced 10 new live shows for that year and mentioned that new music is in the works, with hopes of a release in the following year. The current lineup includes Jason Köhnen (programming, production, bass, double bass, guitar, synthesizers, and piano), Gideon Kiers (programming, electronics, sequencing, beats, FX, production, and drums), Hilary Jeffery (trombone and oscillator), Charlotte Cegarra (vocals, flute, xylophone, piano, Rhodes piano, and FX), and Eelco Bosman (guitar and FX). Former members include Nina Hitz (cello) and Sarah "Sadie" Anderson (violin). The ensemble has also featured live members and session musicians throughout its history.
