The KLF is a duo consisting of Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond. Cauty, born in Devon, England, and Drummond, originally from South Africa but raised in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland, gained notoriety for their anarchic approach to music and art. Influenced by the philosophy of The Illuminatus! Trilogy, they engaged in various provocative activities, such as defacing billboards and posting cryptic advertisements in prominent publications like NME. Their most infamous moment occurred during a performance at the February 1992 BRIT Awards, where they collaborated with Extreme Noise Terror, firing machine gun blanks into the audience and dumping a dead sheep at the aftershow party. This act signaled their exit from the music industry, culminating in the deletion of their entire back catalogue in May 1992. The KLF is credited with releasing the first Trance track, "What Time Is Love?" in 1988. With the profits from their music, Drummond and Cauty founded the K Foundation, aiming to challenge the art world by staging an alternative award for the worst artist of the year and infamously burning one million pounds sterling. Despite their declaration in 1992 to keep their catalogue deleted in the UK, they released a few new tracks under different names, including the K Foundation and 2K. In a notable development, The KLF's music re-emerged on digital platforms on January 1, 2021
