The KLF, also known as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, is a collaboration between Bill Drummond and James Cauty that gained significant success as the Kopyright Liberation Front (KLF). The name is inspired by the books "The Illuminatus! Trilogy" by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. The Justified Ancients of Mummu (JAMs) represent an underground anarchist collective led by the character Hagbard Celine, who battles the Illuminati from a golden submarine named the Leif Ericson. In the narrative, Mu refers to the lost civilizations of Atlantis and Lemuria. Bill Drummond was also involved in a stage production of "Illuminatus!" in 1976.
