The Lancers were a vocal group hailing from Los Angeles, California, known for their Rhythm and Blues style. They gained fame through collaborations with the Van Alexander Orchestra, charting with Trend Records in 1953 with songs like "Sweet Mama Treetop Tall" and "Stop Chasing Me Baby." In 1954, they continued their success on Coral with the hit "Mr. Sandman." The group consisted of Bob Porter (Baritone, Arranger, Trumpet), Jerry Meacham (Tenor), Dick Burr (Tenor), and Corky Lindgren (Bass).
