The Last Man In Europe Corp. was formed from the remnants of the Leeds punk band Air Raid and the art school group Jug Jug. The core members, Trevor Abbot and Paul Martland, met at Wimbledon School of Art. Their album, Songs From The Ark, was recorded at Ark studios in Kingston Upon Thames and produced by David Motion. The band was subsequently courted by EMI, recording an album's worth of material that has never been released, including the notable track "Sons Of The Soil." Paul Martland's expertise with an ancient EMS synthi A led him to collaborate as a session musician with several artists, including Win on "You've Got the Power," Strawberry Switchblade on "10 James Orr Street," Simon F of Intaferon, and Chiefs Of Relief, as well as contributing special sounds for the avant-garde theatre group Lumiere and Son.
