The Liverbirds were a British beat group formed in early 1962, originally known as The Debutones, and they disbanded in 1967. As an all-female band from the Merseybeat scene, they gained some success, particularly in Germany, where they were often referred to as a female version of their male counterparts. The group released two albums and had one top five single during their career. The lineup included a vocalist and guitarist who was active from 1963 to 1968 and briefly reunited in 1998, born on 14 August 1945 in Seaforth, Merseyside, England, and passed away on 11 December 2016. Other members included a bassist and vocalist, a drummer, and a guitarist and vocalist who replaced Sheila McGlory and Irene Green. Sheila McGlory was a guitarist in 1963, while Irene Green was a vocalist during the same year. The guitarist and vocalist who joined later remained with the group until 1968 and also reunited in 1998; she passed away in 2009.
