The Lollipop Shoppe was a psychedelic garage rock band from the 1960s, originally known as The Weeds. The band featured members who later joined other notable acts. They attempted to avoid the draft by fleeing to Canada but ended up in Portland with no money, where they gained local recognition through performances. After signing with UNI Records, their manager, "Lord" Tim Hudson, urged them to adopt the name The Lollipop Shoppe to align with the bubblegum music trend. However, their recordings, including the 1968 LP "Just Colour," showcased a blend of garage rock and psychedelia rather than bubblegum pop. The album and its single, "You Must Be a Witch," are considered classics of the era, though neither achieved chart success. The band opened for prominent artists like Janis Joplin and The Doors and appeared in the biker film "Angels from Hell." They released one additional single, "Someone I Knew" b/w "Through My Window," before disbanding in 1969. The members later reunited as The Weeds for a single in 1971.
