The Longcut
The Longcut is a band that originated in the Leeds area but is often associated with Manchester, where its members formed while attending Manchester University in 2002. Their music features a blend of edgy angst reminiscent of early Joy Division and the grand soundscapes of bands like Muse. Characteristically, their songs are predominantly instrumental, with sparse, hoarse vocals that serve as an almost secondary element, adding tension to their dense sound. Stuart Ogilvie, who stepped in as the vocalist after the original singer left, also plays drums and keyboards. The band consists of Lee Gale on guitar and Jon Fearon on bass. Initially signed to Liverpool's Deltasonic label, The Longcut transitioned to Melodic in 2007.
