The Mar-Keys

The Mar-Keys, originally known as The Royal Spades, were a rhythm and blues group formed in 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee. They served as the backing band for many early releases while also recording their own singles. In 1962, the rhythm section of The Mar-Keys evolved into The Memphis Horns, with the horn section following suit.
