The Metros were a 1960s soul group hailing from Detroit, Michigan, known for their recordings on RCA Records. Under the guidance of Joe Hunter and Jack Ashford from Pied Piper Productions, the group released one album and three singles between 1966 and 1967. The members included Percy Williams (lead), James Buckman, Robert Suttles, and Arthur Mitchell, with Gordon Dunn replacing an original member for a final recording. Their debut single, "Sweetest One," released in October 1966, became their most notable track, showcasing a falsetto lead and a chorus reminiscent of "The Mix-Mix Song" by the Chi-lites. This was followed by "Since I Found My Baby" in March 1967, which featured a strong second tenor and a four-on-the-floor beat that appealed to Northern soul fans. The Metros' third RCA single, "The Replacer" b/w "Let's Groove," written by Larry Banks, did not perform well and marked the end of their time with RCA. A final recording, "She's Not Everybody's Girl" b/w "What's Wrong With Your Love," remained unreleased for 21 years before appearing on Soul King Records in 1991.
