**Bio: The Mighty Diamonds** The Mighty Diamonds were a renowned Jamaican harmony trio formed in 1969 in the Trenchtown area of Kingston. The group consisted of lead vocalist Donald "Tabby" Shaw, along with harmony vocalists Fitzroy "Bunny" Simpson and Lloyd "Judge" Ferguson. Originally called The Limelight, they adopted the name Mighty Diamonds after Shaw's mother referred to them as "the diamonds." Their musical style was characterized by roots reggae with a strong Rastafarian influence, drawing inspiration from Motown vocal groups and Jamaican rocksteady artists. The Mighty Diamonds gained prominence in the 1970s, particularly with their breakthrough work with producer Joseph Hoo Kim. Their debut album, *Right Time*, released in 1976, became an international success, featuring early hits recorded at Channel One. They continued their success with albums like *Deeper Roots* in 1979 and collaborated with various producers, including Gussie Clarke in the early 1980s. The group achieved notable hits, including "Pass the Kouchie," which was later covered by Musical Youth as "Pass the Dutchie." Their performance at Reggae Sunsplash in 1982 was released as an album, showcasing their enduring appeal. Throughout their career, the Mighty Diamonds released over forty albums, adapting to the evolving reggae landscape. Tragically, Donald "Tabby" Shaw was murdered in Kingston on March 30, 2022, and Fitzroy "Bunny"
