**The Mindbenders Bio** The Mindbenders were active from 1965 to 1968, originally known as a four-member band until the departure of their lead singer in 1965. After this change, the group continued as a trio consisting of Eric Stewart, who served as the primary lead singer and guitarist, Robert Lang on bass, and Ric Rothwell on drums. Both Lang and Rothwell contributed backing vocals and occasionally took the lead on album tracks. Their first single as a trio, "A Groovy Kind of Love," written by an unnamed songwriter, became a significant hit, reaching No. 2 in the US and No. 2 in the UK in 1966, selling one million copies worldwide. The accompanying album also titled "A Groovy Kind of Love" reached No. 28 in the UK. The Mindbenders toured America and performed at notable venues like the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco. However, they struggled to maintain their popularity, and their second album, "With Woman in Mind," did not perform well and was not released in the United States. The band appeared in the 1967 movie "To Sir, with Love," contributing to the soundtrack. Soon after, Rothwell left the band and was replaced by Paul Hancox. In March 1968, Lang also departed, and Graham Gouldman took his place. The Mindbenders ultimately disbanded on November 20, 1968, during the final concert
