The Mummies are an American garage punk band formed in San Bruno, California, in 1988. Known for their raw and lo-fi sound, which they refer to as "budget rock," the band is recognized for their rebellious attitude and unique performance costumes. Their influence can be seen in the garage punk and garage rock revival acts of the late 1980s and 1990s. The Mummies' recorded output was intentionally created using poor, cheap equipment, including their first and only studio album, "Never Been Caught," released after the group's initial break-up. Since then, they have participated in several reunion concerts and tours, making sporadic appearances in Europe and the US in recent years.
