The New Yorkers are a garage-pop group hailing from Portland, Oregon. They earned their name after winning a battle of the bands competition sponsored by a local Chrysler dealership, which allowed them to be named after the New Yorker model of car. Following the release of a few singles, the band evolved into 70s pop idols.
