The Night Writers is a collaboration between Chicago house songwriters and producers, known under various aliases. Originally, false names were used on their 1987 release, but they were correctly credited on subsequent reissues. One of the collaborators, Evans, released two records under his alias in 1989 and 1990 before his death in 1991. The other collaborator, McAllister, used a different alias in 1997. In 2004, a new version of "Let The Music (Use You)" by McAllister, featuring a vocalist, was released on the B-side to another track. "Let The Music (Use You)" and its follow-up, "Over You," were famously produced and mixed by another notable figure, which is why The Night Writers is often referred to as a Knuckles alias. The original vocalist on "Let The Music (Use You)" released an album of the same name in 1989, featuring more tracks written by Evans and McAllister.
