The Notations were a soul vocal group from Chicago, Illinois, active during the 1960s and 1970s. Their first recording in 1969 featured members Cliff Curry, Curtis McCormick, Carl McPhan, Brian Taylor, and Lee Dees. After this initial recording, Cliff Curry left the group and later formed a new lineup with LaSalle Mathews, Jimmy Stroud, and Bobby Thomas, retaining the name The Notations, which he owned. The original members of the group included Clifford Curry, LaSalle Matthews, Bobby Thomas, and initially Jimmy Stroud, who was replaced by Walter Jones in 1973. Walter Jones departed from the band in 1976.
