**Bio: The Notorious B.I.G.** Real Name: Christopher George Letore Wallace Born: May 21, 1972, Brooklyn, NY The Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie, was a prominent figure in Hip Hop, known for his conversational style that captivated audiences. He released two critically acclaimed studio albums, "Ready To Die" and "Life After Death." Tragically, he was shot to death in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, CA, on March 9, 1997. As a youth, Biggie was an honor-roll student but dropped out of school at 17 to work for a small-time crack cocaine dealer in Virginia. He began freestyling on the streets of Brooklyn and eventually created a demo tape with friends. This tape caught the attention of DJ Mister Cee and was featured in The Source magazine's Unsigned Hype section. Sean "Puffy" Combs signed Biggie to Uptown Records, and later brought him to Bad Boy Records, which he founded. Biggie's debut album, "Ready To Die," sold over 4 million copies, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest lyricists in Hip Hop, alongside his former friend and rival, Tupac Shakur.
