**Bio: The Notorious B.I.G.** Real Name: Christopher George Letore Wallace Born on May 21, 1972, in Brooklyn, NY, The Notorious B.I.G. (also known as Biggie Smalls) was a prominent figure in Hip Hop, known for his conversational style that resonated with audiences. He released two critically acclaimed studio albums: 'Ready To Die' and 'Life After Death.' Tragically, he was shot to death in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, CA, on March 9, 1997. As a youth, Biggie was an honor-roll student but dropped out of school at 17 to work for a small-time crack cocaine dealer in Virginia. He began freestyling on the streets of Brooklyn as a teenager and eventually recorded a demo tape with friends, which caught the attention of DJ Mister Cee. This led to a feature in Hip-Hop magazine, The Source, in the Unsigned Hype section. Sean "Puffy" Combs discovered the demo and signed Biggie to Uptown Records. When Puffy launched his own label, Bad Boy Records, he brought Biggie along. 'Ready To Die' was released shortly after, selling over 4 million copies. To this day, B.I.G. is celebrated as one of the greatest lyricists in Hip Hop, alongside his former friend and rival, Tupac Shakur.
