The Ohio Players are an American music group that originated in Dayton, Ohio, in 1959. Initially formed under a different name, they served as the studio house band at a local venue before being renamed the Ohio Players. In the mid-1960s, the band signed with Capitol Records in Los Angeles. Their big break came in 1972 when they signed with Westbound Records in Detroit, leading to commercial success. The group later recorded for Mercury Records. The original members of the band include Leroy Bonner, Billy Beck, Clarence Satchell, Ralf Middlebrooks, Marshall Jones, and Jimmy Williams.
