The Optic Nerve was a garage rock band formed in 1985 in New York City, NY, led by Bobby Belfiore. The original lineup included Elan and Orin Portnoy, as well as Ira Elliott. However, Elan and Ira left the band to join the Fuzztones, leading to the addition of Tony Matura on guitar and vocals for the remainder of the band's existence. Throughout their duration, the drums were played by Frank Manlin, Greg Clark, and Ken Anderson, while Tom Ward played bass. The Optic Nerve disbanded in 1988.
