**The Outcry** was a garage band from Michigan, active in the mid-sixties. They gained recognition by winning a local battle of the bands competition, followed by first place in the state competition and third place in the national competition held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, performing all original songs. The band's A-side single was written by Dale Hurt, but due to his young age, the credit on the record was given to the studio owner, Diamond Jim, who claimed he would manage the royalties for Dale. The flip side, also conceived by Dale and written by Roger Romeo, was originally intended to be titled "Epileptic Fruitcake," but Jim decided it might be offensive. Their local record deal led to appearances on the local TV show, Robin Seymour's Swinging Time. The members of The Outcry included: - Dennis (Dale) Hurt - Bass Guitar - Jim Palermo - Drums - Johnny Edwards - Vocals - John Mayes - Rhythm Guitar - Roger Romeo - Lead Guitar
