The Ozark Mountain Daredevils are a Southern rock band formed in 1971 in Springfield, Missouri. They gained popularity with their hit singles "If You Wanna Get To Heaven" in 1973 and "Jackie Blue" in 1974. Often described as a "countrified Steely Dan," the band embraced a distinct style characterized by long hair and beards, which symbolized their rejection of the conservative fashion prevalent in the South during the 1970s. The current lineup includes Mike "Supe" Granda (bass, mandolin, vocals), John Dillon (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer, autoharp, keyboards, vocals), Bill Jones (woodwinds, horns), Ruell Chappell (keyboards, percussion, vocals), Ron "Rongo" Gremp (drums), Dave Painter (lead guitar, vocals), Kelly Brown (keyboards, vocals), Nick Sibley (rhythm guitar, harmonica, mandolin, vocals), and Molly Healey (fiddle, vocals). The band has seen several former members, including Steve Cash, Larry Lee, Randle Chowning, and many others, contributing to their rich history. The Ozark Mountain Daredevils continue to perform and maintain a dedicated cult following.
