The Parliaments were a soul and doo-wop vocal group formed in 1955 in Plainfield, New Jersey. They were modeled after other musical influences of the time and were led by a notable figure in the industry. Their biggest hit came in 1967 with "I Wanna Testify." In the late 1960s, they changed their name due to a court case involving another group, which they ultimately lost.
