**Bio of The Persianettes** The Persianettes were a vocal group formed in Camden, NJ, consisting of members Vera Carey, Lucille Dunbar (lead), and Helen Hutchinson. All three attended Camden High School, with Helen being slightly older, having graduated earlier than Vera and Lucille. Their first recording came as backing singers for Timmy Carr, the older brother of songwriter Vic Carstarphen, on the track "Only Know And Then" b/w "I Could Never Stop Cryin'" for Guyden Records, while Lucille and Vera were still in high school. Riding the wave of the Beatles craze, they recorded "Dance Baby Dance" under the name the Beatlettes on Jamie Records. In 1966, they released "What Good Is It" on Swan Records, but like their previous release "It Happens Every Day," it did not achieve significant success beyond Philadelphia. Their limited solo recordings were largely due to their demand as session singers, as producers preferred to have them support artists such as Timmy Carr, Ben Krass, Dee Dee Sharp, and Crystal Mansion. The trio disbanded in 1966, primarily because of Lucille's growing interest in church singing and her struggles with a weight problem that she felt no need to address.
