The Players Association was a disco and funk band formed in 1977 by a jazz drummer and producer, based in New York City. The group comprised seasoned jazz musicians who had previously worked in the city's vibrant music scene. Their headquarters and recording studio were located in Manhattan, where they created much of their music during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Influenced by the disco craze, The Players Association's music featured a blend of funk, jazz, and soul. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1977, included the hit single "Disco Inferno," which became a favorite on the dancefloor. Other notable songs by the band include "Turn the Music Up," "The Get Down Mellow Sound," and "Everybody Dance." Although The Players Association did not achieve the same level of mainstream success as some of their contemporaries, they maintained popularity among disco and funk fans throughout their active years. Today, they are regarded as a cult classic band of the disco era.
