The Pogues are an English Celtic punk/folk band founded in London in the early 1980s. Originally named (which means "kiss my arse" in Gaelic), the band was led by frontman Shane MacGowan, who was fired in 1991 and went on to form a new project. The Pogues continued with some lineup changes, including the temporary addition of various musicians, until they disbanded in 1996. They reformed in 2001 and played their final show in August 2014, shortly after the death of bassist Cait O'Riordan on 8 October 2013. Shane MacGowan passed away on 30 November 2023. In 2024 and 2025, remaining members and special guests will reconvene under The Pogues' name for a series of shows curated by Stacy to celebrate the 40th anniversaries of their albums. Drummer and occasional vocalist Andrew Ranken died on 10 February 2026.
