The Police are a British rock band from London, England, active from 1977 to 1984, with a reunion in 1986 and again from 2007 to 2008. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 as performers. The band played their first gig in March 1977 at The Stowaway in Newport, Wales, and their classic trio debuted on August 18, 1977. Prior to their reunion tour in 2007, their final public performance took place on June 11, 1986, in Atlanta, GA, USA, during Amnesty International's all-star American tour, where they performed five songs.
