The Promise was a now-defunct indie rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formed as a side project by Davey von Bohlen (vocals, guitar), Jason Gnewikow (guitar), Scott Beschta (bass), and Daniel Didier (drums). At the time of their formation, von Bohlen was a member of another band, while Gnewikow had played with another group, and Beschta and Didier had been members of Ceilishrine. After recording their second album, "Nothing Feels Good," Beschta left the band and was replaced first by Tim Burton (formerly of None Left Standing) and then by Scott Schoenbeck. The band disbanded following the release of their 2002 LP, "Wood/Water," which featured bassist Ryan Weber. Following the split, von Bohlen and Didier later re-teamed in other projects.
