The Purple Gang is a British rock band that originated in Stockport. They made their debut with a single in 1967, followed by the release of an album the next year, both produced by an unnamed producer. The band reformed in 1998. Its members included Joe Beard on guitar, Geoff Bowyer on organ, Pete Walker on vocals, Ank Langley on jug and banjo, and Gerry Robinson on mandolin. The Purple Gang should not be confused with the American garage rock band from the 60s.
