The Railway Children were formed in 1984 in Wigan, UK, and consisted of members Gary Newby (vocals, guitar), Brian Bateman (guitar), Stephen Hull (bass), and Guy Keegan (drums, percussion). They first signed to a label where they released two singles and an album. However, after the takeover of Virgin by EMI, the band was dropped and subsequently disbanded in 1992. Following a hiatus, Gary Newby continued on his own, releasing "Dream Arcade" in 1997 on his Ether Records label. In 2016, the original band members reunited for a live tour to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of their debut album. Unfortunately, in October 2019, they announced the end of their reunion and chose to go their separate ways once again.
