The Rationals were an American R&B-influenced rock & roll band formed in 1964 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The group was managed by a notable figure who released their singles on his label, with four of those being picked up for national distribution. Their sole LP was released in 1970, but the band disbanded shortly thereafter. Among their most successful records were covers of Otis Redding's "Respect," which predated Aretha Franklin's more famous version, and "I Need You," originally written by another artist. The band consisted of Scott Morgan on lead vocals, harmonica, guitar, drums, piano, and organ; Bill Figg on drums; Steve Correll on lead guitar; and Terry Trabandt on bass guitar.
