The Raveonettes are a Danish rock 'n' roll duo comprised of Sune Rose Wagner, who plays guitar and provides male vocals, and Sharin Foo, who plays bass and sings female vocals. Their music features close two-part vocal harmonies, hard-edged electric guitar, and a significant amount of noise. Their songs blend the structural simplicity of 50s and 60s rock with intense electric instrumentation, driving beats, and often dark lyrical themes. The duo met in Copenhagen and began recording their debut album, "Whip It On," on which they handled all production themselves. They later added guitarist Manoj Ramdas and jazz drummer Jakob Hoyer to their lineup. One of their early performances was at the SPOT festival in Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city. "Whip It On" was awarded "Best Rock Album of the Year" at the Danish Music Awards in 2003, and The Raveonettes were recognized as part of the "Next Wave" of contemporary music. The band is also known for their affinity for Fender instruments.
