The Reels, hailing from Dubbo, New South Wales, emerged in the late '70s with their new wave pogo pop, gaining mainstream success with their debut single "Love Will Find A Way." Over the years, they released a series of hits and chart-topping albums as their line-up changed and their sound evolved, incorporating elements of electro, bent cabaret, and country soul. A publishing issue led founder and singer-songwriter Dave Mason to focus on covering other artists' material, and ironically, the band achieved their biggest hit with Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising," another act facing a publishing fallout. The Reels quietly disbanded in the early '90s while experimenting with house music but reformed in 2008 to tour and promote a best-of album. Their haunting track "Quasimodo's Dream" was voted one of Australia's ten greatest compositions by the publishing association APRA and has been covered by numerous Australian artists since.
