The Renegades were formed in Birmingham, England, in the early 1960s. Despite struggling to find success in their home country, the band enjoyed a fruitful career in Finland and Italy during the 1960s. Their debut single, "Cadillac," was released in Finland in January 1964 and was credited as an original work by the band, though it was actually a remake of "Brand New Cadillac." The Renegades performed in Finland for the first time in October 1964, initially planning a three-week tour that extended to seven weeks due to their popularity. Over their career, they released four albums in Finland, with the last one coming out in 1966 before relocating to Italy. The band disbanded in 1971 but later reunited to participate in "Back to the Sixties" events in Finland during the 2000s. The members of The Renegades included Kim Brown (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Ian Mallet (bass), Graham Johnson (drums), and Mick Wembley (guitar from 1971). Former members included Denys Gibson (guitar from 1964 to 1966) and Joe Dunnett (guitar from 1966 to 1971).
